Christantus Uche Ignites Dominant Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their first-ever continental campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Missing star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a commanding result that virtually guarantees them a place in the Conference League playoffs.

A further three points in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be enough to secure direct passage to the knockout stages, especially following a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity

This match offered a platform for several Palace's fringe talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, scoring for the second consecutive match.

A Shelbourne team that had concluded their league season were outmatched against a largely second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.

Dominance Established from the Outset

Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple finish.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close soon after, fizzing a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the official dismissed the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal man did not have wait long to find his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's effort had struck the post.

The home side were clinging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for a couple of agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The contest was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
