I'll overwhelm 'legitimate combatant' Jake Paul - Joshua
Anthony Joshua prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight-round contest which will be streamed live on the streaming platform.
British boxer Joshua declared he will "stamp all over" Jake Paul and "break" the American as the combatants met personally to build hype for the upcoming bout.
Former two time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua meets YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, on paper, a mammoth disparity - at Miami Kaseya Center on 19 December.
Boxer's Mentality
"I will damage his features and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35 years old, declared.
"I plan to overwhelm him. That's the boxer's mindset.
"I'm going to seriously aim to injure him. That's my intention."
Civil Exchange
In spite of those words, a composed Joshua and social media star Paul - usually recognized for his dramatics - were respectful and maintained decorum with each other.
Jake Paul instead criticized ex Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and described him as "not serious" after Ngannou rejected a bout proposal.
Targeting Tyson Fury
Joshua, meanwhile, targeted UK opponent Tyson Fury - and declined a million-pound wager 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul victory.
"Jake Paul is superior to Tyson Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua said.
"I acknowledge that."
Serious Opponent
Despite stating he plans to punish Paul, Joshua declined to comment unfavorably about his rival's boxing ability.
"Jake is a serious fighter," he said.
Jake Paul's Background
Paul - who originally gained popularity on the television network - has primarily fought mixed martial artists or faded names since turning professional.
He lost to British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.
Commercial Success
Nevertheless, the inexperienced fighter continues to be one of boxing's largest money-making draws, consistently making substantial paydays.
Prediction and Confidence
The 28-year-old predicted a KO victory in the fourth or fifth round and stated he would derail the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is reportedly being planned for 2026.
"It's going to be myself against Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul declared.
Size Difference
As the two fighters met for the usual confrontation, with their size difference clearly visible, it emphasized just how unlikely this whole event is - and how amazing it is that the match is actually proceeding.
